She F.I.G.H.T.S.™ to Beat Autoimmune

Palmer Kippola healed herself of multiple sclerosis in a 26-year battle; she shares how in her new book “Beat Autoimmune: The 6 Keys to Reverse Your Condition and Reclaim Your Health”

About 50 million Americans -- nearly 1 in 6 – struggle with autoimmune conditions. These diseases cause the body’s immune system to attack healthy tissues and include chronic conditions that have long vexed medicine, such as multiple sclerosis (MS), rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, inflammatory bowel disease, Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, and Type 1 diabetes.

In her 26-year battle to beat MS, Palmer Kippola (pronounced KI--po--lah) refused to give up. She researched and tried many potential solutions, finally discovering the key to stop all symptoms and reverse the expression of the MS. Palmer studied to become a Functional Medicine Certified Health Coach and developed a system called F.I.G.H.T.S.™ to help others identify and address the root causes of their autoimmune conditions. She explains her discoveries in her new book, “Beat Autoimmune: The 6 Keys to Reverse Your Condition and Reclaim Your Health,” coming April 30, 2019.

An author, speaker and autoimmune recovery advocate, Palmer presents exciting new science about the main causes of autoimmune diseases. She explains how environmental and lifestyle factors create inflammation, damage the gut, and alter genetic expression to cause autoimmunity – and how they can be reversed.

“Our DNA is not our destiny,” Palmer says. “It’s our environment that matters most. What we eat, drink, think, and do gives direction to our genes on how to behave, and that’s how the harm or heal, inflame or restore switch gets flipped.”

The CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) reports that that 90% of health outcomes are due to environmental or lifestyle factors, not our genes. Palmer sought to understand what factors people could control to heal or prevent autoimmune conditions. She calls the big categories F.I.G.H.T.S.™ for food, infections, gut health, hormone balance, toxins, and stress.

In her quest to understand how autoimmune conditions develop and what we can do to prevent them, she learned that intestinal hyperpermeability, commonly known as a leaky gut, is the pathway to autoimmunity. A leaky gut allows toxins and even food particles to enter the bloodstream, causing the immune system to overreact, potentially triggering the onset of autoimmunity..

“What is so exciting about this research is the implication that you can flip the equation and reverse the condition,” Palmer says. “By detecting and removing your environmental factors and healing and sealing your gut, you modify your genetic expression and can return to good health.”

Palmer outlines the three steps people can take to reverse autoimmune diseases:

1. Detect Your Triggers: ”Everyone’s triggers may be different, but they often fall in the same general F.I.G.H.T.S.™ categories.” She offers assessments that can help readers discover priority areas to explore and shares appropriate tests that can further pinpoint these triggers.

2. Remove Your Identified Triggers: This can be for as little as six months but often requires permanent changes. Palmer reveals the top food triggers, including the big culprit she cut from her diet to reverse her MS.

3. Repair Your Gut: This step is paramount to halting and reversing the autoimmune process, Palmer says. “A sealed and healed gut has profound effects on your immune system and well-being, including calming immune reactions to foods, and turning off the autoimmune cascade.”

To help people take charge of their own health, Palmer developed a Healing Manifesto and other free resources available at her website, www.beatautoimmune.com.

Palmer has studied with the Institute for Functional Medicine (IFM), the HeartMath® Institute, and the Functional Medicine Coaching Academy (FMCA). She has completed 100+ hours of neurofeedback brain training and studied under leading experts in nutrition, holistic health, energy, and Functional Medicine. Today she collaborates with Functional Medicine doctors and consults with people who seek to transcend autoimmune conditions.

“Modern life is getting faster and we’re getting sicker,” Palmer says. “People need real strategies that work at the root cause level to bring about true and complete healing.”
